Artist Biography:
KiSung Koh has received BAA in Illustration program from Sheridan College, ON, Canada in 2012.

KiSung was born in S.korea, 1985 and moved to Canada in 2006, live and work around Toronto.

Artist Statement about the series created for Life And Love:
“Night Light” by KiSung Koh (2015)
“I believe you’ve seen full of fireflies, if not one or two at least, glowing in a forest at night. I’ve seen many of them glowing in the dark where I acquired an inspiration for this series of my new works from. I decided to name it ‘Night Light’. I challenged to depict the beauty of their ‘light’ at night and use bit of shiny colors and tones that evoke different emotions and magical/whimsical mood in viewer’s mind.

The Night Light sounds like the nightlife of animals. That being said the ‘Night Light’ in this series is their life, heart, sound, spirit, and interactive method.

You will never witness the dreamy-lights in real life, but they are my trust from the childhood memory and feeling.

My current works are meant to be my appreciation for the beauty of nature that has provided me beautiful memories and dreams. I depict dreamy and imaginative world in surrealistic way with animals that are approached in a realistic style and mysterious environments where wildlife animals could feel secure and safe.”

Artist Statement:
“I love animals and natures like anyone else. They are all my inspirations.

My current works depict dreamy and imaginative place with animals and full of mysterious spirits where wildlife animals and I could feel secure and safe.

There is nothing more beautiful than when you actually see a wild animal in the nature. However, we rarely see them from where they are supposed to be and just don’t know how amazing they are to be alive.

In my paintings, I always think I should be integrated with nature and animals as I put myself into each painting and I want to share my thought and connect with people through my works.

As I see, feel, and hear animals, I also find more of myself.”
