Artist Statement:
Painting is a form of meditation for me. There is a unique solitude in the medium, the tools and the light.
I grew up in rural New England. In addition to California I have lived in Montana, New Jersey and New Hampshire. My paintings tend to feature vernacular architecture set in the pastoral, and often majestic, landscapes of these places.
The subject matter is mostly imagined. The real subject matter tends to be deeply personal. All the work is meant to be familiar, even nostalgic. Relying heavily on experience and observation, these paintings are places where I can go. Free to wander and wonder.
By day I provide business logic to companies trying to make sense and a profit building really cool things for entertainment companies.

About this piece:
An imagined place reveals a bucolic scene. With elements of personal history and observation, architecture bridges the gap between the cows and the landscape. Much like ourselves, when the cows get home, they are tended, nourished. They are safe.
